Upon occasion, I do miscellaneous web jobs on my own or with Virginia Creative. I have compiled a few of my web projects on this page. If you’re interested in having me do some web work for you, just contact me.
Upsilon Pi Epsilon
www.cs.jmu.edu/upe
Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) is the computer science honor’s society at James Madison University. As president of the chapter, I wanted to strengthen our web presence by designing a better looking site which contained more than just the constitution. I added a “Lineage” section which highlights the achievements of past UPE members as well as puzzles and a LaTeX tutorial that were provided by the UPE advisor.
The HPC Paper Series @ JMU
James Madison University recently won some grants and purchased a variety of high performance computers. You can get some more details about the equipment at jmu.edu/hyper. In anticipation of an influx of HPC related papers, my advisor and I decided it would be necessary to have a repository for them. Thus, the HPC series was born: a database driven website implemented on CakePHP.
GHTH100 Website
JMU has a course titled GHTH100 – Personal Wellness, that a large number of freshman take. Part of the requirement is that students attend several approved “passport events” throughout the semester. Some students wrote a web application using PHP with a SQLite database to store all of the events. People who wish to have their event listed on the website can login and submit their proposal. The proposal can be reviewed from the website and accepted or rejected. If it’s accepted, it’s automatically listed. I played an instrumental role in polishing the features and debugging the site.
Unfortunately in the summer of ’09, the CISAT department decided to stop supporting PHP, so the site is no more.
